Nice weight loss. What's your target weight and what are you doing diet and exercise wise?

I like how you change the height of the bag in order to be able to work body shots.

You telegraph your hooks by pulling the arm back and by swinging too wide. That actually makes for a tougher workout which might be what you're going for so in that sense it's good, but in a real fight it would be a bad habit to have.

The heavy bag is great for a work out but you can also develop bad habits.Looks like your a hitter but your punches are sometimes wide and predictable. When you work the bag you should vision that bag as an opponent and fight out of a proper stance such as your head is straight up and will be an easy target.Work on technique like bringing your hands back and not dropping them or you will get countered and keeping your head down. When you get your technique down never vary even when hitting bag mitts or shadow boxing.

              Hey VegasMichael,
Thanks for the compliment. I suppose I don't have a target weight, I can assure you that even eating fairly healthy as I have been and training this hard, it would be hard to imagine me under 240-250 lbs. We will see, however, as I'd like to get down to something like 235 since I'm only 6'3.5. Exercise wise, everything I do pertains to boxing in some way, shape or form. It would take me a very long time to post my exact routine, but I don't do anything two days in a row (other than running and shadowboxing) - I don't lift any heavy weights at all. I do medicine balls slams, resistance band trainings, I throw a tire up in the air in my backyard like a lunatic while I walk my dog, whos 22 and requires a fair bit of ass to utilize the body leash on him, so it's almost like walking with a parachute every morning, I do parachute stuff too, ankle rubber tubing drills, 20 rung agility ladder, hurdles. jump rope is my best friend and I do it like a fat white floyd. I know enough about yoga to teach it and practice a modified form of bikram/ashtanga daily except on my brutal days or if I'm recovering after a run, I'll do some restorative stuff. I do it to feel good.

edit- forgot diet. Diet-wise, I'm avoiding beef for the time being. I eat lots of salmon and don't eat rice or carbs at night. I eat zero sugar, I'm too old for it and found out about how it grows tumors. I've been in a much better place mentally since letting go of sugar, but I do sucralose. i like an avacado breakfast smoothie that has turmeric, black pepper, oatmeal, flax, black celery seed, green tea, chunk of ginger, cinnamon, cacao nib, coconut oil.

that's my 'prepare for war' drink
I hit the bag in the vid on an empty stomach just because it was a fast day, I don't always do a fast day, but when I feel like it's needed, I'll throw one in. I generally don't eat a ton for one day every week, but it's not a hardcore fast, I drink bone broth.

1st vid on my channel is a lil spar from back in the grip.

Fifteen years ago I was a member of North 10th in Baton Rouge, my coach was a man named DC. I sparred with keenan hickman. He just lost to Vianello, it hurt me to see that. I felt like I could've given him more work and helped him do better, ultimately it all matters, like ripples in a pond. I've gone into detail about my history on a banned account from back in 2005 that I'm trying to get unbanned. My coach was dennis the silk combs. He never really took the time to show me on the pads or even refer to me by my real name, all he called me was 'Whiteboy'. i was cool with it, learning more was all that mattered. he DID show me the 1,3 on the bag for the first time and when I used it on his prized new fighter (Not Hickman, this was a different guy) and made him quit, I feel like he lost interest in me. I stopped coming when he surprised me with pro sparring partners, because I felt like he was puttin a hit on me lol. pretty lame of me to not spar them though, shouldve been like james toney and said **** it, sparred em all. I probably woulda beat those mfrs.
I started to think that DC wanted me 'out of his gym' because I hit too hard or something, like he didnt want me to beat on his guys. I never landed a power shot on hickmans head, but I sparred other dudes he was working with and ever since I made one quit he was weird with me. Back then, I didn't realize how making someone quit meant such a big deal, and that they have to go through life remembering it, and that it's always easy to quit again after you've quit once, you know????????? it blows my ****ing mind how bad quitting is. as bad as this sounds, id rather be ko'd than forced to quit, I wouldn't want that memory. i take a great pride in never having surrendered in combat. but once he told me son, you hit like a pro, your technique is bad but you hit like a pro. I didn't have any fights, I stopped going because I was boxing for the wrong reasons. I've never quit. I've gotten schooled by a precise pure boxer after knocking him down on accident for one round with a jab to his stomach while he was inhaling (he was a pro middleweight) , but that's it. never been hurt by a blow to the head or body, and i'd like to keep it that way, but it's boxing so I know it'll happen, once I get better I'll be sparring tough people. Two years ago, I got countered flush by the Amateur Champion of 2018 heavyweights over there in Peru, and my legs didn't stiffen up. But, the combat, it's a gift, we owe it to each other, I'm luckily enlightened enough to see that now. It pertains to living in the upper chakra, I've been here for a few months now and dont mind staying here to do what has to be done. I am fine with the next nut I bust being for a child, and being several years from now.

I can clean up the br heavyweight scene and do well enough to just pull a Dave Allen and make a parade off of fighting old men. Back when I boxed 15 years ago, I did it to impress a woman and was living in my lower chakra. Now, I have different reasons for fighting, and live in the upper chakra. my mother has dementia and will slowly forget who I am as her mom had alz, so I have to have her go out seeing me do what I love. Just wanna make a living doing it, cause I love it, always loved it. cant choose what we respect and ill be damned to do a job outside of the sport. Been training for this my whole life, and I'm getting comfortable in both stances. ultimately you sacrifice your life daily slowly, and in great plant jobs and stuff the PEL (Permissible Exposure Limits) allow cancerous things and toxins to be tolerated to exist around workers, so might as well just give it a go with what feels right. afterwards, I wanna be a coach, all life is about is passing life experiences and teachings, there's no end

I had an account here way back in the grip. I'd like to get unbanned, I had 85 rep. Can someone recommend a good mod to talk to about it? I'd prefer to share my journey with boxingscene, as it's the only boxing forum I've ever gone to since I started watching boxing, 21 years ago.

I noticed I do that with my hands big time when I rewatched it yesterday, and I'm glad to hear someone point this point to me. Muchos gracias

thanks- that industrial spring makes all the difference in the world when you rip body shots on that bag. I just ordered one of those adidas 75lb maize bags from title, it's normally 249 but now only 75. ill be able to place this bag higher than this one. I DO telegraph, thanks - I try to vary my tempo with my shots and then throw in the mustard , been working on it. I want to have a really fast rear power hook like usyk and ruiz. I wonder if they both swim. Resistance bands are probably the key to getting that fast hook along with millions of them~

I modeled my style after George Foreman in the beginning, and modeled my jab after Larry Holmes'. I used to visit Holmes' message board and visit with him, and always was inspired by his words. The man is a good dude, it killed him to take out Ali, and if it was up to him, he wouldnt have fought him. Living legend.

I'll have a good meal after I get a full night's rest and then post a new bag video on my 200 lb ringside bag, and I'll also review my maize bag that's coming from title as well. I ordered a swolt goodie bag, dropped 3 bills last night. got that power exercise bar thing too, two jump ropes, bunch of medicine balls and the thing that connects it to your heavy bag, so that I can sit in the pocket and bomb uppercuts without the bag moving too much. Got a bunch of compression socks, I've blown out a tendon on my calf before, and it aint happening again - im too old for another injury. i need to be fighting once a month in my 37th year.
