    Thanks in advance
Running builds heart and mental strength. You should run in the morning and box in the evenings.

When you're running distance for boxing you gotta run hard and push yourself. its not about cruising along taking it easy.

For amateurs, try get FAST over 5km. The more hills along your route, the better. Do this twice a week. Then once per week, do a HIIT session. 10x100m, 4x800m, 6x600m, 8x400m, things like that. Keep rests between 30 seconds and 1 minute.

Theres really no need to run more then 3 times a week, honestly. You don't wanna burn your legs out too much for sparring. And strength training shouldn't be neglected either (for adults especially).

I know what you're saying Rockin, however I feel that its more 'conditioning' of the legs, rather then true strength.

Squats and deadlifts will make your legs really, truly strong and explosive.

Squats are good too. In my senior year of high school I was fighting at 139 and I took a weight training course in school. I maxed at 305 squat. I give that to the running...….Rockin'

that's pretty damn impressive weighing in the 140s (I assume).

Did you feel like it helped your punching power?

Just watched the 1987 Leonard/Hagler fight last night on youtube. Leonards foot work and movement are incredible in the early rounds. I wonder how much running and what his workouts were like for that fight.

Boxing legend and Olympic gold medalist Sugar Ray stays in top shape by running three to four times weekly.

here's an article from ray leonard on his running
