  • Customizing the grip bar inside a pair of custom gloves

Anyone ever modified the grip bar? I'm going to get a pair of customized gloves made that has either a smaller grip bar, or a grip bar that makes a 'V' near the pinky finger. I've proposed this idea to a vendor and they have proposed removing the grip bar entirely, but there's an advantage to punching 'with' the grip bar. I had a hand injury to my little finger which is stuck at a 90 degree angle. I can make a fist, but the knuckles don't line up unless my pinky can fit over the grip bar, and in traditional gloves, it scrunches up underneath the grip bar. So that's why I'm thinking some kind of 'V' shaped grip bar would be ideal.

Any of you ever had a pair of Winnings gloves customized? Will they modify the bar? The Winnings is what I want, but I will settle for less just to start punching properly with the glove on. When my hands are wrapped properly with gauze and toilet paper (I use the Goosen method.) my right hand feels like sex on the beach, I guess I could box without a grip bar in the gloves, but like I said, the cross would be better probably with that grip bar...

Why not try a company like Beaulieu? he took over Flores boxing gloves when the owner died (his bro in-law) and he just renamed it to his last name. all of his gloves are custom made to order I'm sure he would work with you regarding the grip and any other specs you might want. his bro in-law made me a pair of 18 oz sparring gloves after I had 2 surgeries on my hand the gloves lasted my whole career 12+ years and I never had a hand problem again! the grip I requested was like a role of dimes and they did it no problem they probably will cost the same as winning less the modification on the grip plus IMO they are way better gloves

I thank you for the recommendation and smart words. This is very motivating and good to read, as I'm not in the best of spirits. Was weedeating yesterday in the back woods in some shorts, ground hornets got me on the calves, ass cheeks, and thats about it. When I took off running I lost a ring my mum gave me as a kid that I had on my pinky, a 14kt gold nugget ring I always keep on my jab hand.pissed about it...I think it slung off, gonna have to get a metal detector now if I can't find it in a few min , fixing to go hunt that ****er with a headlamp and a maglite.

I took off fast, was at the back door in about 7 seconds from 200-300 ft away it felt like and those ****ers kept on me. in total bout 15 bites. ..that was a first for me. so ....thanks again, I will get in touch with him.

it's not the grip bar, so the Title Gel Bag Gloves feel 'almost' perfect, what it is, is the top 'seam bar' it's like a tiny grip bar, I basically just need that to start closer to the hand so my pinky can get around it. I get my right hand right in a proper glove, I can clean up the br heavyweight scene and do well enough to just pull a Dave Allen and make a parade off of fighting old men. Back when I boxed 15 years ago, I did it to impress a woman and was living in my lower chakra. Now, I have different reasons for fighting, and live in the upper chakra. my mother has dementia and will slowly forget who I am as her mom had alz, so I have to have her go out seeing me do what I love. Just wanna make a living doing it, cause I love it, always loved it. cant choose what we respect and ill be damned to do a job outside of the sport. Been training for this my whole life, and I'm getting comfortable in both stances. ultimately you sacrifice your life daily slowly, and in great plant jobs and stuff the PEL (Permissible Exposure Limits) allow cancerous things and toxins to be tolerated to exist around workers, so might as well just give it a go with what feels right. afterwards, I wanna be a coach, all life is about is passing life experiences and teachings, there's no end

I had an account here way back in the grip. I'd like to get unbanned, I had 85 rep. Can someone recommend a good mod to talk to about it? I'd prefer to share my journey with boxingscene, as it's the only boxing forum I've ever gone to since I started watching boxing, 21 years ago.
