  • Buying new gloves

Im looking to buy a new pair of gloves as the ones I originally bought were a cheap pair and not the best. Only problem I have is that I'm finding the 16oz gloves I have are causing issues with my technique when I'm hitting the bags and they dont seem to have much padding as I can feel the bags through them.

I'm around 95kg, I was thinking of getting a decent pair of 14oz gloves for the bags and pads or should I stick with 16oz

Stick to the 16oz, trust me they will make you faster and stronger. You need hand wraps though to protect your hand and wrist, you can get them at any sporting goods store or at Walmart they are 3$. Learn how to wrap your hands it’s real easy. I just got these bad boys to replace my old ones.

16's or even 18's for the heavy bag. I prefer a lighter glove like 12's for the double end bag to work on hand speed.I have a few different pairs I use depending on what I'm doing.

I use hand wraps, I've ordered a pair of knuckle guards as well but ain't tried those out yet. Maybe a good quality pair of gloves will make a difference

Do you use lighter pair for pad work as well. One of the heavyweights at my gym use bag gloves for the bags and another one uses 12oz for bags and pad work. My coach advised me to use 16oz for everything

I typically use 14 for the pads . I really only use 16’s for heavy bag and sparring. The heavy bag can mess up your hands the worse imo. The 12’s I use for the double end are just a cheapo pair that picked up. I don’t feel like I need as much protection for that and don’t want bigger bulky gloves when I’m working this.

              I'm pretty much the same.

I've decided on a pair of 14oz pro box gloves. They have the same amount of padding as the 16oz ones .

What brand did you get and what’s you opinion of the gloves after using them

Pro-box is the brand. I'm waiting for them to be delivered. I contacted their sales team and they said the extra weight is added to the cuffs so the 14 and 16oz are the same size with the same padding
