  • Boxing and lifting

I'm 64 years young I have been boxing for the last 8 yrs prior to boxing I did quite a bit of weight lifting. I have been wanting to get back to some lifting but find my joints take a beating if i try to box one day then lift the next. So I was wondering if i could get some input on this routine of boxing one day, resting the next then lift the following day then rest and so on. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Remember "you rest you rust".
    Thanks

That rest will definitely help you a ton. If you want to get back to resistance training while boxing also incorporate a lot of calisthenics, resistance bands, and isometric holds. All of these types of resistance training have great benefits. They’re also less stressful on the joints and lower impact. Happy training.

Maybe some lighter weights with more reps? Are there certain exercises that bother your joints more than others? If so, eliminate them.

Yeah I'm a push-up freak I love doing push ups and chin-ups and dips and I have a whole elastic band set up. I just think that the years of working construction have taken a toll on my joints plus I use to do some powerlifting too. Like I said I'm going to give that routine a shot to see how it feels and plus with the boxing you really are working out in a sense because you're working your chest your shoulders your core and legs.

There isn't much that doesn't bother my joints like I said he is a construction in some powerlifting has taken its toll but I'm sure if I get that day rest in between it's going to help so I'm going to give the routine a shop where I'm boxing one day taking a day off then doing some lifting taking a day off and so on we'll have to see what happens
