You all probably know me for my breakdowns but I am trying to expand my scope in order to hopefully one day write on fighting as a career.

You don't want to keep your power hand by the temple because that leaves you open for a left hook to the body. Bring your head to your guard, not the other way around.

In amateur boxing the jab is really useful and if you can't land that then it's going to be hard to really land anything else meaningful.

Are you sure this guy is an amateur fighter? He looks like he has had no real training, just look at his stance. It's incredibly narrow as if he's trying to balance on a plank. He is all over the place with his balance too, his punches lack any sort of technique.

    Thanks for the thread.

I haven't verified that but TBH it kinda doesn't matter. He paid me and I aim to give him what he payed for regardless. I told him in PM about his stance.

He told me he was basically getting by on being tall and dominating the straight line.

I disagree on any sort of technique, he showed a nice body jab and some decent punch selection. He obviously needs work and I will do my best to help him along.

That is 'play' boxing. Here is the thing with you learning as you are. What will you do and how will you react when you get hit, for real hit?

When you are throwing your jabs and he is slipping them back and forth why don't you just put a bomb of a right hand straight down in to his stomach it's right there. Get low and put your leg behind the shot. And Just let it rip.

Nice body jab? His jab was a light tap and he hardly ever stepped in with it like he's supposed to. Punch selection is not what i'm talking to. I'm talking about being able to throw punches with correct technique, he didn't show that.

That is NOT sparring, walking around heel to toe is a really bad dance step. If your serious about gaining knowledge about the sport find your way to a real boxing gym. Not an mma gym or a "lessons" gym a real gym with real trainers.
Sit and watch ask for an interview and spent some serious time trying to learn about the sport.
Stop doing that "sparring dance" you look ridiculous!

                Can't argue with that.

Where is this at, the lobby of a hotel for crying out loud?

Likely the same place where Charlie Zelenoff has trained for his last 200 claimed wins.
