Best place to train in Vegas?

Sorry if this is wrong section I’m new to this site, I’m moving to Vegas from a small town with no real gym, need suggestions on the best place for a good place to train. My goal is to have a few amateur runs nothing lofty , I’m 23 y.o southpaw with a little experience but no official amateurs . Appreciate y’all, great site

I moved to Vegas about 6 months ago, but haven't visited any gyms to train so can't comment too much there, but there are several solid gyms in LV. I'm right around the corner from Mayweather's in Chinatown which is a known world wide gym at this point & isn't THAT far off the strip. Fernando Vargas just opened a gym (not sure where its at doe), that has several solid amateurs there which might be more on your level just starting out. Then there are several notable gyms fairly close to the strip City Athletic Club, Johnny Tocco's, Roy Jones gots a gym (although never heard much about it here, but sh^t its RJJ how bad could it be) & Barry's Boxing (they seem linked to a lot of amateur shows so might be a really good choice too if you are looking to get some amateur bouts in). And there are a ton of lesser known or lesser boxing associated MMA gyms with boxing trainers that could be worth checking out to maybe.

Mainly doe if I was you I'd just plan to check out several of them at the start & then find your home from there off of what fits you best with your own personal needs.

I have no desire to start a boxing career or seriously train these days. Had my chance back in the day when I was more serious into boxing, but before I ever had a first fight scheduled I thought real hard about the risks with damaging my brain & decided against boxing competitively.

And I wouldn't be comfortable being a spectator in a boxing gym. Although I'll probably make my way to a media/fan training day at some point. Almost went to a Caleb Plant media day a couple days back, but something came up.

I feel you, every time I workout i am watching replays in the HBO library and i feel some type of way about anticipating getting my first few amateur, i would seriously regret it if I don’t give it a shot while I’m still young , the problem is I know once I get going I commit , but it is what it is and I’m pumped

Yo eff I don't know your background but you seem to understand a bit the game, I can read you have a real feeling.

                  Have you ever fought, trained?

In my case, I had a couple of fight in ams and a couple of fights in kickboxing here in Europe (see my broken english). I did correct but I felt like going for the kill in comps was not my thing, I was around 19 years old when I fought.

Now I'm 32. I have been training in gyms since and never stopped it because I'm in love with the art of "hit without getting hit".

Well sometimes I stop for 2 years then I come back for 2 years or training, I switch between kickboxing and boxing. But always coming back to the same gyms where I know everybody.

I have been getting a lot better after stopping the competition, started sparring with pros (mostly lighter dudes), I also sparred a bunch of times with a world champ (quite paper belt) in kick boxing, and Euro champ of full contact, and did quite well. I'm like a sparring partner for few rounds but it's cool to me.

If I came back to comp I'm tempted to think that I would really kick some a$$es,
but sht, all the weight diet stuff, the day of the fight, waiting for your fight while others are fighting (I was a MW 165 pounds in ams) since us bigger guys fight after the smallers, I'm not missing it doe.

                    LOL nice.

I trained, sparred, but never competed. I trained for like a year in the UP of Michigan by myself out in the middle of nowhere in the basement when I first started. Mom moved that way with my stepdad. I went with. Had a heavy bag, double end bag, speed bag & that Tyson head movement bag that I forget what its called. Nice lil setup lol. Think I even bought some of those John Brown(?) Ringside tapes they were selling around that time since there wasn't a gym (or f#cking grocery store) for 100+ miles iirc.

Moved to Chicago after a year in the UP & a year back in lower MI. Had a regular job & just did boxing as like a hobby/workout thing in my garage. Didn't really have time for going to a gym although talked to a couple trainers at fights I'd go to there. Moved back to MI a couple years later & got into training at a legit gym with legit trainers finally. Thats actually the first time I was sparring people. Believe Johnny Garcia would later fight outta that gym or mighta been an unknown back then idr.

Met some cats who competed in the Michigan Golden Gloves & winning that was my goal for a few years, but always chicken sh^tting out for one reason or another before I realized I was worried about brain damage & if I wasn't 100% I shouldn't start that journey.

Would off & on train from then, sparring less, since I kinda decided I'd never compete. Got into a serious relationship that took up all my free time, like those things tend to do if you aren't 100% into something already, which pretty much stopped the going to the gym completely & later got into online poker cuz less brain damage, but still that competive thing I needed at the time.

I was 165ish (I'm 6'2) at my best in shape weight. Ballooned up to 250-260 playing poker lol (bout 210-220 these days). Now its been around a decade probably since I've even hit a bag, but my a$$ will randomly shadowbox for 30 minutes if I pass a mirror still today lol.

F#cking bio I just wrote lmfao.
