When it hurts I take few days off and then it's better.

For most of the time it's ok and I don't feel it. I just hope I don't snap my achilles during sparring one day like Haye vs Bellew.
Has it cleared up? Seen a doctor yet?

its a slow healer cause it has a poor blood supply. Get yourself doing some heel raises, i know eccentrics are considered the gold standard for tendon rehab but its not neccessarily better than your normal concentric/eccentric exercise. The silbernagal program does both. Some people get on well with a heel raise insert to take some of the stretch off of the tendon. Its generally not a great idea to stretch it, especially if its at the achilles insertion rather than in the mid portion. its not one of those injuries to 'push on through' with cause you can put the tendon in a real state of degeneration.

I ran a marathon almost three months ago now, and on like the 23rd mile my left foot started hurting like ****. I finished the marathon, but it hurt to walk for the next few days.

Then there was a lingering feeling for almost a month like I had plantar fasciitis or something. It didn't hurt enough to the point where I wanted to go to a doctor, and I kept working out like normal and after about a month it had pretty much gone away. As that went away though, my Achilles started hurting and that had some pretty minor pain for about a month before going away.

Throughout the whole process I kept working out like normal. I take hot baths after most workouts, and also iced that foot/ankle a bit. I also massaged it a lot, sometimes putting a tennis ball underneath it an rolling it around.

When do you think it's the best time to do these exercises? Is it ok to continue with your normal training regime and just add this exercises into the mix or should I ease up on training a bit?

For the record, it doesn't hurt me at the moment. I just feel slight pain every now and then (like every two months when I train hard my achilles feels slightly sore) and it goes away after 2 or 3 days. I did have pain for a longer period exactly a year ago. Since then it kinda got away but it comes back every once in a while for a few days.

I would feel ****** to ease up on training right now since the body feels great and I'm looking forward to some new sparring partners after the new year. So I'm thinking about adding eccentric exercise heel raises into the mix but train normally otherwise. Is it better to do it straight after the training or separately from training?

Like I replied in the previous post, it kinda goes away completely and the pain only comes back for odd few days every month or every two months if I really train hard.

I'm a bit "paranoid" about injuries so I'm always careful about these things.

ohh okay yeah that doesnt sound too severe, some people find every day its painful and causing them problems. Add a couple of sets of 10 heel raises in a day for it, it doesnt have to be purely eccentric, a few years ago that was considered the healer for tendon issues but its been shown since that concentric is just as effective. Despite what i said earlier you could do some calf stretches too if its not that irritable as tightness there can be a bit of a risk factor for achilles issues but its generally an overuse injury which would make sense in regards to your pain being related to intense periods of exercise. As long as the stretch isnt painful.

Has a doctor seen anything there that causes the flareup, or is simple overuse of the muscles?
