I've fasted 24 hours before. The interesting thing is, willpower is like a muscle- it gets stronger the more you use it. I've read about all kinds of benefits to fasting. One idea is that when the body starts to cannibalize itself, it's like cleaning out all the junk cells. It breaks them down and reuses them or something.

Fasted in ramadan. Last year i lost 7kg and maintained a lot of muscle since i had done a lot of strength work throughout, made me look more defined.

First few days are hard but its all worth it, you feel stronger mentally and physically, and if you want to make lifestyle changes, its easier to stick to them after fasting if you start it while fasting - if that makes sense.

I fast 20hrs every day for the last year and a half. it induces ketosis where your body is running on the stored fat cells and yes this is normal for all humans. problem is, most people never get to ketosis because every time they eat, they are replenishing the glucose stores and the body has no reason to use the fat. I'd like to write more about this when I get some time...it can be a really good thing for healthy weight loss and overall health.

What about if you work out for like 3 hours straight? Would the body start feasting on fats in a similar way to if you fasted?

Working out in fasted state will accelerate fat burn. Just keep in mind your body must burn through all the carbs/glucose (what you ate last) before turning to the fat. Typically with no exercise it can take 10-15hrs to get there. When you sleep, you are essentially fasting, so you can add those hours in. I skip breakfast and work out in the morning if possible, this kicks in the fat burn. Then go as long as possible without eating. Sometimes I fast all day and exercise after work. I gotta admit, it's tough at first because your hungry as hell. All the years your body has gotten food every few hours is the reason. Once you get "fat" adapted it's easier and the cravings diminish. Your body is made to store fat when you eat more then you need at one time. It's also designed to burn that fat when food is not around. problem is most people never get to that point. There is one account of an obese guy fasting for an entire year with nothing but water. He was fine after one year. I encourage you all to research on the internet the health benefits of intermittent fasting and give it a try

I fast during Ramadan, 18 hours or so for 30 days.

Body fat drops, from about 15% to about 10%.... and some days single digits.

Energy after eating is crazy high, can do a hard workout with ****** weights and recover fast.

Can run for longer and faster after eating.

Hit the exact amount of vitamins and macros as when eating I am very very aware of anything that I consume to the smallest detail.

Problem: after Ramadan can’t keep the physique, body fat returns to 15%! Bad habits return!

I’m 5’10 and weigh 140 right now, lost about 20lbs total. But gotta tell ya it was basically from skinny fat to pretty lean, more cut around my abs. Abs seem like the last place that holds onto fat for me
