  • Boxing Glove Recommendations?

I've recently bought myself a Bob dummy, and I'm still using the same old ****ty no name gloves I've always had.
Was thinking of spending up to £100 ($130) on something a bit better.

I'm 5ft8 and about 165lbs with fairly small hands I guess (I don't know if this information helps any). Was looking at these two pairs.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Boxing/T....cd3116a1a0ce88

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00OBPT....ab6d58851328bd

Noticed that they are both Muay Thai gloves. Does this make much difference? I'm not really wanting to do clinching, just work on my punching really.

Any idea which pair would be better (or any other recommendations are welcome)? Also what size would you recommend? I don't own a heavy bag, just the Bob so not sure if I should get 16oz or 14oz or even 12oz gloves?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Ive always been a big stickler to test something in the store to see how they feel on my hands and then look online for a better price.

I'm not a fan of the muay thai gloves, so I cant really say how well do they do comfort.

I prefer winning or grant or Cleto Reyes

For your budget and needs you can't go wrong with Sabas gloves. I own 2 pairs, 14 and 16 oz, as well as some Tuf wear, Everlast and Revgear gloves. The quality and protection the Sabas provide is far above any of my other gloves. If it were me I'd pick up a pair of 16oz Sabas, the Supersoft is similar style to Winning, the Pro Series similar style to Grant, whatever your preference they make comfortable great quality gloves that provide great protection. I'm 178lbs 6'0" and have average size hands, and these fit me great after breaking them in for a couple weeks. If you have huge hands Sabas might be too tight with wraps, otherwise I would expect them to break in with use, I also stuff my gloves with newspaper after training every time, this seems to help break them in faster.

I never used those before. You even have me tempted now to buy a pair for testing.

Look for Ringside IMF given how much you're trying to spend, or Rival gloves, the 100-150 range ones.

Rival is actually starting to come up fast. I see a lot of pros wearing them as of late.

I have Rival gloves, they are great **** for the buck. I'm from Canada though and I believe they are a Canadian company so our prices may be different. Their gloves offer great wrist support and the padding is distributed nicely....can't wait to get my hands on a pair of Winning gloves though

I see a lot of good stuff about Rival gloves, never tried em. I do have Rival D3O headgear and a Rival speed bag though, and the quality of both is excellent.

The IMF are pretty good sparring gloves but I don't recommend for them for him because he's just hitting the dummy.

For his budget I'd really recommend the Ring to Cage C17 gloves. They're extremely similar to winnings for like half the price. It's an excellent choice, these gloves are meant to last.

What about quality? Do they last as long?
