  • Beginner Training Benchmarks

i am a newbie and could only get to the gym x2 a week so i work the rest of the days on my own.
i need to ask ya'll experienced out there about benchmarks; things i should get under my belt early on to build on later. i don't have standard metrics to measure myself against, i don't truly know my current level or what's possible so i seem to be stuck in the same place.
i am very distracted and overwhelmed by all the things i want to incorporate in my training but this only leads to disappointment and feeling overwhelmed.
so when you first started, what was the minimum number of rounds for heavy bag, shadowboxing, skipping?
    did you incorporate sprinting immediately?
how many times were you in the gym?
what were were/are your conditioning circuits like?

Good question, i'd like to know the answer too!

From one newbie to another, my advice is to learn about boxing strategies as well as technique and conditioning.
One problem i've had is, when sparring, not really having an idea of what to do and how to attack. But now after doing some reading i have more of an idea of what to do

I still do 3 days - Monday, Weds, Friday. I use the other days to rest.

Focus on footwork, a proper guard, conditioning, and basic jab and cross to start.

As time goes ny you can add in new things, but thats pretty much going to be your base no matter how you box, and no matter what level you get to. But as a beginner, those are the main things you have to focus on.
