  • The weight from your elbow to the fist

I have been boxing for about a year now and I entered the gym and was told right away I have great power. But as time passed and I got better known with my body I realized this wasn't the case.

As I got better known with my body,I noticed how hard and stiff the area between my elbow to my fist is. I was told with relative small motion, my punches had a lot of weight in it because of this area.

Does anyone have this feeling in the same area that the stiff and hardness of this specific area makes the weight in your punches heavier rather than powerful?

God now I feel ****** -.-. (english ain't my first language). But yeah, I think that is why there is weight, not nescarily power in my punches but it is that forearm that can make the lightest of taps hurt my sparring partners. That may be why I was told I had a lot of "power" in my punches when I first entered the gym.

This is true...the guy who trained my uncle told me not to focus on building big muscle but to focus on speed and stamina and building up of the forearms because that is where the power comes from...power comes from the legs also...but you're on the right track with what you said...

Also, the bone density of your forearm and also bones in your hands will increase a bit from hitting the bags, to a certain extent anyway.

I do feel that my forearm is where my "power" is from....which also sucks because it is really hard for me to throw snapping punches because of it
