  • Afraid of Sparring even if I have done it?

Is there anyone else here who is afraid of sparring?
I have been sparring for 6 months ,but whenever I think about it and whenever I am in the gym I am hesistant to spar, but when the bel rings and the sparring starts,I am not scared anymore.

Is it normal to feel this way?

You're not alone in this. I, myself, can't get motivated to spar. I don't get paid to spar and I could get injured. I see no point in sparring unless you're scheduled to fight and get paid.

You see? It's tough being a pro. You have to act like a pro and I admit, I ain't a pro with this attitude.

For me,I enjoy it while I am sparring as I enjoy a good fight, but I just scared to get in the ring and fight

Any man that says he isn't afraid before climbing into the ring, he's a damn liar...

We all get scared, I was taken to a gym to help a guy out (similar style build to his opponent) he was well into his camp looking sharp/focused. I was keeping busy but not really actively giving my all in training (in between fights)
I was bricking it as the guy had a reputation as a real scrapper. 20 seconds in, I landed good shots, my shoulders relaxed, we went 6 rounds. All was good

Yes, always. The thing is you just have to be cold about it and get your ass in the ring, not overthink it. I'm always nervous until I'm there and the sparring begins then it's all good.

Its normal to have Pre fight nerves. What worked for me to limit it, was to have a Pre sparring routine that I did everytime, and a lot of self talk. Go over in your head what you have been working on, go over what you want to do, and remind yourself to trust your technique, breath, keep your hands tight and everything else loose.

Yeah when I was sparring I'd always get nerves waiting to spar but once I was in there I'd feel fine and had fun in there. I think it's normal to have nerves as long as you don't let them hold you back.

it just sucks feeling like such a ***** 90-95% of the time, when you do not want to spar or do nto want to get into a fight with anyone, but once you get in the ring, just stepping between those ropes just makes me relaxed and I'm like "this is what it is and it is fun". And all fear disappears, but while I am looking at the ring, I am thinking "I do not want to do this, why?".

I just end up feeling like a ***** because I do not want to fight anyone before its time to spar, or in the streets as I'm afraid
