  • Workout Regimen Critique

    Hi at everyone,

I have been boxing for a couple of years now and boy has it changed my body. Right now know I'd like to share my training routine, so you guys can have a look at it and critique it. I do this because I feel that I am doing something wrong especially in the cardio/endurance department. So this is what I do every Week:

    Monday Morning: Weights
Bench, Deadlift, Squats, Weighted Pull Ups, Overhead Press, Barbell Rows all high weight low reps

    Monday Evening: Boxing
15 min of Jump Rope, 3 Rounds of Footwork, 3 Rounds Shadow Boxing, 5 Rounds of Heavybag, 3 Rounds of Double End Bag, 3 Rounds of Headhunter Auqua Bag, Tabata to finish off

    Tuesday Morning: Conditioning
    20 Push-Ups
    20 Mountain Climbers
    20 TRX-Rows
    20 Kettlebell Swings
    20 Jump Squats
    20 Leg Raises
    20 Burpees
20 Bulgarian Bag CLean and Press (16 kg)
    Thats the first Round
    Second Round 15 Reps
    Third Round 10 Reps
    Fourth Round 5 Reps
All Done with Elevation Training Mask
    No Rest
Took Me about 18 min this morning

Tuesday Evening : Sparring / Mitt Work (6 Rounds/10 Rounds)

    Wedensday Morning: See Monday

    Wednesday Evening: See Monday

    Thursday Morning: See Tuesday

    Thursday Evening : See Tuesday

    Friday Morning : See Tuesday

    Friday Evening : See Monday

    Saturday Monring: See Monday

    Saturday Evening: See Monday

    Sunday is Rest

When Working the Heavy Bag I always put focus an a specific thin like for example jab, in and out movement or combination punching. Boxing is 3 min work / 30 sec rest

Please let me know what think about this and where it should be changed. All answers are appreciated.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

I would drop the weight lifting sessions and add some roadwork.

I'm guessing you haven't done this routine since you are asking us if it will work or not. My advice is to try it out. That's the simplest way to know if it works or not. It may work for you and no one else but you won't know unless you try it out.

        Try it out man.

It really depends what you are trying to achieve with this. The routine seems perfect for burning fat and building muscle but if you are looking to compete at a decent level in boxing i would lose some of the weight training and add more roadwork, pad-work and footwork etc

im not a boxer but know a bit about conditioning. I'd say the opposite to some of the other posters. Your regime looks fine in terms of what stuff you are doing, but it looks punishing, too punishing if anything. I'd get rid of one of the days and schedule in a rest day. I'd also substitute one of the conditioning sessions for a lighter aerobic session, maybe a run/cycle/swim, not balls to the wall but enough for a decent endurance workout.
