Hitman stance, Philly Shell defense, Crab style, tons of names for it. just so u know, u need FAST hands/reflexes to make it work properly; so if u wanna practice it just to look cool, u will get ktfo. most trainers don't preach this stance for that reason, it requires a certain ability. best info i found was on Sh*rdog (post #11)

study these; James Toney (especially before he ate himself into HW), RJJ, Floyd

The hitman style is in fact based off of Thomas Hearns but does not in fact always mean that the Philly Shell defensive style is used. It is technically just a lead hand down stance. Many fighters will use shoulder rolls and the shell to defend, but typically the stance is just the lead hand down position. The stance also doesn't always have to lead to the constant use of the flicker jab, as the up jab is also very useful from this position as is the Milton LeCroix(sp?) style looping hooks (as used by Shannon Briggs).
Keep in mind that using this stance AND using the flicker jab are both pretty advanced techniques. This stance is a good way to get your ass trashed if your defense/foot work/head movement isn't up to par. Add to that the somewhat limited use to the flicker jab (as many fighters use it poorly) and the difficulty in developing a very fast/stiff flicker jab, makes this style of fighting pretty tough to execute. If you know how to use a Flicker Jab AND are capable of executing it well, then it is quite the useful tool, but make sure you are not overlooking the importance of improving your more traditional boxing techniques.
