If not good be slightly better than ordinary.

How often would you fight amateur fights per year?

Amateur fights are all about experience, so the more you can fight, the better. You need time to review and learn and improve from your previous fights.
In saying that, you prob only want to fight 5 times in 1st year and then 8 fights second year of boxing, and then when more experienced and less to learn after each fight, around a dozen times a year, if possible.
We're not fighting for perfect records either.

I'm not looking to be Mike Tyson but I want to look less like a beginner if you know what I mean.

Every time I spar and I use my head movement and I barely get hit at all and I make the guys miss (Light sparring,but I ask them to use some power so they are atleast able to utilize their speed to their fullest) and I do get some pretty good hits in clean. but when I get hit myself I get more and more discouraged.

Been at it for 4 months and I was wondering,how long did it take you to get to an average level, and how long do you think it usually takes. I love the sport,and when I spar I am having A LOT of fun, which I shouldn't have considering my friend is worried saying,you shouldn't have fun getting hit in the face. It is fun but I get discouraged.

Dude if you wanna go to the olympics (I assume you mean Tokyo 2020?) you need to be fast tracked and be ridicuolusly talented to do it in the short time that's left.

Realistically you have little to no hope. A guy in my gym is in the Team GB development squad and fighting 12 times a year, The development squad is like the reserves and not even the full squad. And he's been fighting on recognised national tournaments for 4 years.

Then factor in the AIBA world championships this year and in 2019 where most of the top seeds in those tournaments are already going to the olympics and most country's have to name their squad for the olympics in early 2020.
