  • My first time sparring

it was almost not really sparring. just practiced parrying jabs and straight crosses. i did soooo horribly. just can not seem to keep my right hand close enough to my face to parry in that i kept holding the hand out to met the jab, thereby opening myself up to a cross. how to i force myself to stop doing that.

other ?. i just can't seem to see the punches coming until they are hitting me. does it just take practice to see the punches come in tine tio parry/block or duck them?

Do not reach for the jab. Wait for it to come close to your face, then turn your right hand to catch it as if your holding focus mitts. Watch his movement and try to see which way hes winding up. Also practice practice practice. We all suck at first man. Especially just seeing the punches coming. Keep it at.

      agreed, practice makes perfect

was the guy you were working with experienced? he may have a very good snappy fast jab?

be patient, we all want to be a pro straight off the bat

      Just relax, it will come
