  • sparring footage from last week i have the red shirt on

Got some sparring in with my stablemate Rae Johnson..he is top 3 in the state...will be turning pro end of next year....Also stablement Money Powell IV will be turning pro soon and most like will sign with Richard Shaefer...many promoters have been courting him.

I love training with these guys. They motivate me to be a great instructor and teach by doing and learn through doing.

I also teach Cardio Boxing Class at Body By Design here in Columbus.....if you're ever in the area...check us out.

Rae fights at 141 i'll be getting a few fights in at 132 before I focus on training fighters and clients at both gyms.

feel free to comment, advice, share footage

I usually don't watch sparring sessions or fights recorded on vertical, but i will watch it later.

I think I commented on your form in the past but here goes.
There is not much to say until you shorten your feet distance.
Your so wide apart that you have no balance you have no reach and you have no power.
Your feet should only exceed your shoulder width just slightly!

If you need to use the old Goldman technique and tie a rope around your ankles with the proper length and shadow out for a full week then spar. Your so used to it by now you probably can't correct it.

Teaching boxing starts with STANCE & Hand Position and this changes from person to person but feet distance rarely does. To have your stance so wide you need to be a pressure styled fighter who closes the distance fast and brings the back foot up quickly too.
You never reach the guy your sparring with because everything falls short!

Try what I'm explaining I trained a lot young men and a lot of veteran pros came to me for help.

ps; if you want to be a trainer one think you really need to learn is to stop calling fighters "cowards"!
Respect is earned and your comments about the fellows you mentioned on other threads would all make you cry!

Good luck, straighten up some and bring those feet together a little.

Stance looks too narrow and your weight is too far forward. Almost in front of your knee which is a big no-no.

You lean too far forward in general, when you punch and everything. A fighter could set you up by throwing a jab, right then step back causing you to come forward and nail you with a right.

At certain times, you cover up too high. By touching the sides of your eyes with the gloves you eliminate peripheral vision. Your opponent could simply quarter turn and land a few big shots on you before you have time to react. Your head should move to your hands not the other way around.

You reach with your punches too, don't reach for the opponent, expect him to be there at the end of your punch. Better yet, expect to miss.

Work on being smoother as well. By being smoother and not reaching you will have better punch quality.

          Good luck man.
