  • Afraid of getting punched?

What's up guys, I got this problem? I don't know I am training like a beast looks like I can beat everyone who gonna stand in my way, but when I need to fight someone or spar when they rush me or something like that I am looking like some lame, looks like I don't know nothing, doing mistakes, throwing punches randomly, what's the problem?? This **** happening now for a few months or more...

It's pressure man, having skill and being able to use it are 2 different things. You spar so you can build confidence and learn when and where to use all your skills. I wouldn't worry about it. Just do light sparring and increase intensity slowly. The number 1 thing is to focus on being calm and cool. A relaxed fighter is a much better fighter.

I believe this is the first comment I've seen you post that isn't trolling someone, and it's spot on. I'm proud of you..

To the OP, everything this guy says is true here. You just need to relax, get in some practice, and things will come and progress naturally. You're just tensing up, and that's affecting your performance. The only way to beat that is to just get some rounds in. Like Metho says, start off slow and light, just enough to take the edge off. It will come naturally with time

Thanks for the answers I really appreciate it. But I don't know, my trainer said the same things but it seems it doesn't work, looks like something in my head is ****d up or some... When I see my opponent coming at me I just starting throwing punches at him like these peoples from street fight videos... But when it comes to the training everyone in the gym says I am good and other stuff. It's more like I am getting confused what should I do when a people comes at throwing random punches too, so I just doing the same thing and getting my ass whooped. :/ Theres gotta be solution.

          I used to do it
I used to turn my fxckin back when I got rushed
          It's your natural defence
          Just gotta retune it
          Stay very calm
          Breathe
          And think
          If you can think clearly
You will be able to adapt
          If that fails Try drugs
          Crack maybe

Bowling is a real good sport and makes a great hobby! You can get very serious or have a beer or two and keep it casual.
Practice is needed but hard training isn't a must.
Not to many fights break out at the old allies anymore, I don't think!

Boxing is NOT for everyone, maybe just the training is for you!!!

Darts is another great game but that can get dangerous

            good luck

I sparred my muai thay trainer every lesson I had...always got my azz kicked too. It starts out literally with landing a single proper jab...that might be all you land the entire time...very slowly you'll land a right hand, or double jab. I would recommend just focusing solely when sparring on landing the jab, and maybe the cross. Jab and pivot, tie up, etc. Learn to keep calm by taking up time inbetween, and creating space.

Lol at bowling and darts. I used to hustle at pool when hitch hiking all over the States. Then I got hustled by a pro hustler in Houston - played all through the night and he took several hundred off me when several hundred meant something. Like they say in boxing - there are levels.

I an NOT a boxer and never was. I did step in a ring in a gym once, Hampshire, UK, and found myself running backwards for 3 minutes. Same with my mate who went there. The trainer put us in with the best guy in the gym and we were 14 year old wannabes and he was like 17 on the amateur circuit.

Nobody here has mentioned footwork. One exercise it occurs to me that you could do is play non combat tag on a large floor mat - maybe twice or three times size of a ring. Make a game out of it. This is extremely good aerobic exercise and trains you to feint direction. Slowly over a few weeks reduce size of area until you are doing it in a ring. See who can get the record for most seconds without being tagged.

Thinking about it, this would be a good exercise for many sports - where are you without footwork and speed?
