  • My stamina is getting..worse?

when I first started boxing I could get through the lessons easily, but why is my stamina worse right now? It really sucks and why is that? Sure my techinque has gotten SLIGHTLY better but why is my stamina getting worse from training?

Could be a number of things. Maybe not eating enough, try carbo loading the day before, really dig out, the next day you should have stamina for hours. Another thing could be that you just need to recover for a bit so some time off, get better sleep.

You probably know the answer, just think of what you did differently.

You could be over training as well as improper diet like the other poster eluded to. It could also be a "winter time" effect from the change in the weather. Or, it could be nothing, just that some days are like that. Keep working and keep pushing, you'll get there

I felt that I slept enough with 8 hours. Maybe it was just a bad day.....I hope

Your open post had almost no useful information for people to give you specific advice, but you still got some good responses. Evaluate your diet and recovery effort.

**** on. We need more information.

The fundamental principal behind all training is 'overreaching'. So training to just beyond our capacity, then resting so that you can recover. During recovery your capacity to train harder/faster/stronger/longer increases and so you then train to the new capacity each time. If you don't have a well constructed training plan where you increase the work each time then your training will plateau. This is common for amateur boxers who don't have a 'fight date' at which they can aim to peak. Ensure you good quality training sessions. Quality over quantity, good nutrition and a regular sleep pattern. Each training session should push you. whether that's a time to beat or a distance if you're running.

Also note 'stamina' isn't really a thing on it's own. It has to be specific. You can have good general stamina of course but someone with good stamina at cycling would not necessarily be able to play a full game of tennis (aerobic vs anaerobic and trained muscle groups etc...). Ensure your training is balanced for your boxing. If you're on the road running 10k three times a week but you feel tired during intense sparring try running shorter distance at a faster pace to more closely simulate what you are trying to achieve.

Lots of science in training. Dig out some books and have a read.

            Hope that helps.

You are over-training, just like Kovalev did against Ward. After your shower and you are flexing in the mirror, how does it feel? Thats a good way to judge if you are over training. If you can flex for 15 minutes and be hard, you ok. If you flex and get tired in a minute, you need rest.

Is there a point to flexing in front of the mirror for 15 minutes or is it just an overtraining test. I never thought about spend that much time in front of a mirror.

                  Over training... CNS isn't recovering.

There is a certain level of training in which you maximize your training, you want to hit that level, not go over it.

Signs of overtraining, diarrhea, bad sleeping patterns, easily sick, cold sores, you may not feel sore, but you would weak when trying to lift weights, do push ups, etc, you will start to feels aches and pains in random places, hip, elbow, shoulder.

Sex drive would also be low.

There is a fine line in working through pain the smart way and the dumb way. You'll figure it out. Make sure your eating enough, sleeping enough, and not over training. Doing any of those 3 things wrong can cause CNS fatigue.
