I've been boxing for 5 to 6 months now and I would like some advice on setting up the right hook. When I throw it on the bag, mitts, and sparring it feels awkward. I mostly rely on my left for my hooking needs, any advice?

Just my perspective; the right hook is an opportunity shot. Like an uppercut, you don't want to force it because it has a short reach and opens you up a bit. Only go for it if they're really leaving it open.
The jab is a great way to set up anything. Especially a light, blinding jab that obscures their vision.
The thing to remember is to keep your posture. Don't compromise your balance. Turn that right shoulder. Keep that left glued to your jaw. And, get right back into stance of you'll be squared up and wide open.
This isn't a great example, just one I remember. Quillin drilling the right hook on southpaw Wright and even dropping him with a jab feint/right hook combo. I remember having my coach help me find my right hook after I watched this one.

Wow, I watched some film on him and I believe you are right. I'm going to watch him some more and develop my own right hook, hopefully to the same level as his.
