Putting in the work. That's really all there is to it. That's what road work, jump rope, etc is about. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to do it. So pick cardio activities you like and go with those so it's less laborsome.
Putting in the work as Red says is a big part of it.
The road work builds up quick.
But IMO, nothing eats hill sprints. In boxing you can't control when you use energy or how much you'll have to use. I don't care how tough you are, when your legs go, and you have an opponent coming at you, and your body is too tired to respond, unless you gave a lot of experience. You'll turn to a little ***** real quick.
Hill sprints are the only thing that can help train that IMO. It teaches your body to recover quicker. Teaches your legs to push when they feel like they can't anymore.
Start doing sprints on a normal track, as they get easier, go up hill.
Long runs and jump roping gets easier and easier. Sprints are always hard.
