    Injuries during training camp

So I've recently been getting lots of injuries. I'm fighting on the 20th of July in a 5 day tournament, dunno how often I'll be fighting but my weight class is stacked, so possibly 3-4 times.

Today, I hurt my left most knuckle on my right hand in sparring, while throwing a right hand. Couldn't hit the bags after that, so I just shadow boxed. The thing is I also have an injury to my left elbow, whenever I throw a hook and sometimes an uppercut, I'll feel pain on the elbow joints, but only on impact, never if I miss the punch.

The elbow has been bothering me a while now, about 2 weeks, and it's gotten much better, no more swelling because I've been taking Advil to keep inflammation and pain down. Now I was thinking of doing this for my knuckles too, but I know this is just a shortcut and it won't heal properly this way. I know that I have to avoid anything that aggravates my elbows or my knuckles, which means bag work (I can still work the double end bag without any pain.)

The thing is, how can I skip out on the heavy bag and possibly sparring if I got a fight in like 2 weeks? It just doesn't feel right to do that, though I know I need to let my hands rest. Any advice on what I should do?

Injuries don't get better, they get worse. Is your hand swollen?

If so ice 10 min on, 10 min off. Do you massage your hands?

Is your elbow pain related to your hand pain?

Do you have an impingement in your elbow? Look it up. You can't heal faster than your gonna heal. Repetitive use tends to aggravate injuries.

Have you used head to increase blood flow to the elbow?

If you can't hit the bags and can't spar how can you expect to fight? I say you should toughen it out. Wrap you hands with extra padding. The elbow Idk. Use defense to make him miss then use your jab. Amateur boxing is all about punches landed. They don't care if it is a power punch or not. Use the jab. Take a play out of the Malignaggi Playbook.

There is a little swelling, and no, my elbow pain and knuckle swelling are on different hands.

Haha, I mean I guess normally I'd just not fight, but this is a big tournament, I've finally fought my way up here so I really wanna fight in it.

I'd fight my heart out if I were you. Do it. Fight in the tournament. It's amateur boxing you aren't going to get ktfo unless you really have bad defense and are fighting at a higher weight. What weight are you fighting at?

Yeah you'll be fine. Just protect yourself and control him with that jab. Good luck!

If your cardio is strong, you'll always have a chance so don't neglect that. If you're getting injuries, work on your form.
