Music & Timer While Working Out

    Hello everyone,

I wonder if anyone of you can help me out with this. I like to wear headphones (coupled with my iPod nano) while training, so I can listen to music. The problem is that I can not hear the round timer at the same time. Is there a possibility to have a round timer for the headphones so that it beeps while the music is playing? I am looking for any advice that can help me solve that problem.

    Thank you in advance.

I have an android. I just searched the app store for boxing timer and then ran it with pandora. Both will run at the same time on my phone. I even use it when I am training outside and use the bluetooth to my jawbone.

Use ONE head phone on ONE ear! Your ears should be OPEN in a gym!
Music choices could be anything that accents the ONE! The accent on the ONE is bringing your timing up to the quickest time signature used in 4/4 timing.
Many Afro/Cuban up tempo tunes accentuate the ONE, James Brown is another emphasis on the ONE!
If your applying music to your routine and you want to raise the tempo find the ONE!

Bad...very bad idea...you need to listen to the sound of the punches...your punches when it hits the bag/pads/whatever....o.k for speed bag I guess.but overall no....not good.

Don't like headphones... They slip off as you open up and u have to adjust them, and if you are dealing with a cord that's an xtra hassle... Plus If someone tries to talk to you you won't hear them. Some gyms play the radio in the background. That's good enough and you can still hear the timer as well.

But, if you absolutely MUST have headphones... Use your other sense your sight. If you are referring to a circuit training where they send you to different stations (which is what it's gotta be... You ain't wearing no headphones when your trainer working with you that's rude...) then just watch for when the others shift, then you shift.

                Thank You

Thank you very much for your advice.

Seems like I will not use headphones during working because of the advice I received. It's a good thing that beginner boxers like me get that kind of advice from you more experienced athletes.

This is a really good point. Similarly, when I'm out on a run I'll sometimes happen upon other runners who are literally slamming their feet into the pavement because they have their headphones in and aren't paying attention to their form. You can hear them from miles away.
