    best prefight meal

So weigh ins are over and you can finally eat a decent meal. Whats your prefight meal? My trainer would always take me to a spaghetti dinner. I figure to load up on carbs but he was old school maybe it was tradition.

I read about nutrition on BB.com, and they said Carbs is usually a great source of energy. So Paste, bread, etc is that they recommend. If you're fine with Pasta and such, you can keep doing it, but you can switch to something light I assuming before fights so you don't feel bloated or full. Of course put a bit of veggies in it.

This right here. Always good to go with foods that you normally eat before training, for me it's typically grilled chicken with rice and a sweet potato or something of that sort. Lots of fluids too. Of course this the mentally for an amateur where you weigh in and fight later that same day. For a pro it's gotta be a lot different as you have a whole day a few meals in between the weigh in and fight, so there's more room to be flexible with your eating there.

I have pasta, chicken and then some fruit with sips of water up to my fight. that always seems to work with me pre fight or pre training. It depends on you though. I wouldn't try anything new, just experiment with different meals and timings before training and see what works best. Than do this in you meal after weigh in.

Unless you're a professional who weighs in the day before, carbo-loading (losta pasta n' shit) will do you no good.

Amateurs weigh in day of. You cannot properly carbo-load day of (true method actually takes about a week). That is a process in which you need AT LEAST that 8-hour nightly time frame where your body stores those carbs as glycogen. This process will also make you gain some weight, so unless you've managed to give yourself some leeway to do this, it's fairly mute.

Also, a lot of pasta is very very high on the glycemic index, meaning if you're performing the same day you will end up sluggish and tired (nutrition can be confusing like that). You'll end up spiking your blood sugar, causing your body to overcompensate by releasing too much insulin, in turn that insulin will result in the crash of energy. That's essentially what a food coma is..

.. To keep it simple, if you've been eating right during your training, stick to it. Your diet should have been catered to your energy levels for workouts during your training anyway. Grilled chicken, brown rice, broccoli is my go to with a trail mix somewhere down the line.
