The key to supplementation is to fill in the gaps. A good diet isn't always enough to recuperate from putting your body through extreme workouts. If you sweat a lot, you may benefit from electrolytes and possibly minerals. Have knee pain? Consider cissus, glucosamine, chondroitin, msm, etc. If you have a hard time getting in enough protein, shakes and bars help. Keep a balanced diet and if you find areas in which you need a little help, then supplement accordingly.

Supplements are a waste mostly.
All you need is slow burning carbs, some greens, protein, and your natural fats, and don't eat like a fat ass, keeps carbs minimal.
Some caffiene before you hit the gym.
I don't know why people over think what they should eat or not, it's the same exact thing for everyone no matter what sort you do, or don't do.
The differences are minimal, especially if your not competing in anything.Last edited by AddiX; 06-29-2015, 07:38 PM.

As a boxer you are an elite athlete burning copious amounts of energy!
Your body absolutely MUST have carbs! It cannot burn fat for fuel without also burning carbs at the same time! Fat is like the coal and carbs are like the lighter fluid.
If you restrict carbs in an athlete, your body has to make it anyway in a process called "glucogenesis" where it breaks down your bodies proteins (muscles, enzymes and immune proteins, it is indiscriminate) to make carb by knocking off the nitrogen atom. The nitrogenous by products build up in the system poisoning it somewhat and damaging mostly the kidneys and liver which process and remove it. The condition is called ketosis and is definitely NOT a healthy state. Sure it is touted by weight loss people as being a rapid way to lose weight because it sheds fat AND muscle both and lowers metabolism as a result and leads ultimately to sickness, fatigue.
So no, cutting carbs and increasing protein for glucogenesis does not adequately solve the problem.
There is nothing wrong with carbs at all for athletes and it is basically crazy to cut them! Carbs should be the main source of calories, as evidenced by looking at the most natural food we can eat, human milk!
I would also venture that the more sedentary the individual, the more complex carbs should be advocated solely at the exclusion of sugars, however in an elite athlete like a boxer, the more intense, longer and more frequent one trains, the more and more it is best for the carbs to be composed of simpler sugars!!!
This is because the muscles are always screaming for glycogen (muscle sugar) replacement and simple carbs are more rapidly absorbed than complex ones which must be broken down first. Exercise increases glucose sensitivity and thus you can have your sugar by exercising without increasing your diabetic risk!!
Leave carbs alone!!

You WANT carbs, you don't NEED carbs. You guys are overestimating how many carbs you need.
Keeping carbs minimal is the easiest way to maintain and keep excess weight off.
Your diet no matter what Should consist of mostly fat/protein.
You might need to slightly tweak your macros depending on your needs, but there is really no reason to tweak it much, fat/protein will stay consistent.
It's like when people ask how do you bulk/cut. You cut carbs when you cut weight, thats it, people over complicate this.Last edited by AddiX; 06-30-2015, 07:21 PM.

Just eat healthy and exercise and everything will balance itself out.
