Right Hand Lead Tips....

If you're squaring up enough that you can't rotate a lead right more than a jab then you're too squared. Regardless, a fast lead right with minimal rotation can still get you a KO. The whole point of the fast shot is they don't see it coming and you get the KO. I'll take a big punch I see coming all day over the quick crisp one I didn't see.Comment

I like my lead hooks to have power, not just a slap, I like my lead rights to have power not just a fast jab. But obviously I wouldn't throw it all like that, but "ideally". The only time I maybe wouldn't put full power on my lead right is if I'm trying to set up something else. If I just touch him, what's the point, could have done that sht with my jab.Last edited by SplitSecond; 05-31-2015, 09:40 PM.Comment

When you're trying to be fast you're looser, you don't even look to tighten your fist much, you're not KO'ing anyone when you're thinking of a speedy potshot. But you throw however you want to throw. This train of thought can be applied to every punch in boxing, you wouldn't commit to anything, that's fine.

With the exception of pawing my jab for range or to just have it blocking a guy's view, all of my punches are a tight fist when I land them. You can be fast and KO a guy. The key is to tighten everything at the end of the punch. Just because YOU can't doesn't mean other can't
Only way to speed up from here is to take away rotation i.e arm punch. And/or less grip.
Or do you have your fist tight before you even throw when it comes to full power?Last edited by SplitSecond; 06-01-2015, 09:38 AM.Comment

And how does that differentiate from full power? That's how you're supposed to throw your punches, how do you make it faster, like a "jab"?

Everyone at work now thinks I lost my mind because I was sitting here going through the motions to break it down for an explanation. I've been doing it so long it's not a conscious thing lolComment
