Since when did amateur boxing become serious??

First off i would like to apologize to ROCKIN for arguing on another thread. After having my first fight in around 3years over the weekend s.hit has really changed in amateur boxing. the way the rounds are scored, no more points per punch kind of scoring but proper 10-9 rounds ( which i prefer). No headgear which i found strange, the biggest and most shocking thing CLEAN SHAVEN i mean i cut down my beard to a stubble and still have to shave that??I know they do this in the pros but really?? And the point that ROCKIN made about the gloves, they were checked after each fight and repeatedly changed,... since when did all this happen??When did amateur boxing become semi-pro?? and what do you people make of the changes? if you were in boxing before all this, cause i never came across this before when boxing which as i said last fight was like 3 years ago

As a former referee of the great amateur sport I will only say that it's all about keeping the kids safe.

"Toto, I don't think that we are in Kansas anymore."

    We're not.

And no apology needed, I'd already forgotten about it............

I also find the clean shaven rule ridiculous.I plan on going amateur maybe pro if everything goes well. But that rule almost made me say **** it all, cause I've never shaven my precious mustache, in the pro's you can have a beard.

But I guess it is what it is. It'll grow back.
