Word of advice, if a trainer is putting in a fair amount of 1 on 1 time with you, and more so then others at your experience then he sees something in you. No trainer is going to waste his time just to lie and discourage a guy when he can be focusing on someone who does show promise, UNLESS you are ****y and need put in your place. He is trying to expose your weaknesses and helping you to fix them and he's teaching you to persevere through adversity.

This is normal enough think of it this way, every single boxer has been whiped from one end of the ring to the next in sparring, you say their more experinced than you even better, they didnt go light on you better again, you stuck the full 3rounds whitout been stopped or dropped,it might not feel like it now,but this was prob the best thing for you, when you start fighting properly, your gonna be in whit people whit the same experince as you (should be anyway)which will make your fight that much easier, would you rather them tip tap at you you get really confident, then get drilled and overwhelmed at a fight, take your time and try not to learn 2fast,better you get it right, its only TRAINING,and this is the best way to learn

My coach did the same thing to me when I FIRST sparred. He gave me 3 rds with some lightweight kid who was fast as ***. I mean the kid didn't punch too hard but I was so damn discouraged because I couldn't catch him and I felt like I was in quicksand.

After the sparring session, I felt so down and depressed because I thought I'd perform better. Whatever it was I said OK, I've been told, your first sparring session is just getting your cherry popped and some guys can't mentally handle it. I told myself I'm better than that.

I showed up again the very next day telling my coach I wanted to spar again. He told me to take a day of just hitting bag, shadowing boxing, and the next day I'd get another go at it. So I came back next day to spar with this kid who was no rookie and had pop according to my coach.

I went at it with the kid and didn't feel much pop as my coach claimed he had and landed a nice left hook at one point that I could tell rocked the kid because he took a mistep immediately after but recovered well. That gave me a lot more confidence knowing, WEIGHT CLASSES matter, lol. This kid was at my weight vs the other kid being light weight, he was so damn quick it was hard to time him, see his shots, and just keep his pace.
Once I was at my weight with the other kid, everything seemed more legit and I held my own better.

With that said, I got out of sparring and going to the boxing gym and decided to get into a not so tough job and here I am today living a boring life, lol.

I still beat up the heavy bag whenever I get a chance and maintain proper form when doing so but I left all the boxing gym stuff behind because it gives me an inch that I know I can't scratch.
