  • boxing equipment from russia

    Guys,

Really need your advice. There is a Russia-based manufacturer of high-end fighting gear, namely boxing gloves and boxing helmets. The gear is really good, full of high-tech features and in some aspects even better than famous W*****g. No need to say that it's getting very popular in Russian boxing clubs, especially among experienced boxers. On the other hand, it is quite pricey (about 150 USD for gloves plus delivery costs).

I'm going to introduce this gear to international customers, so it's very interesting to know what people think about an idea of buying boxing gear from Russia.

In other words, what are you first thoughts when someone is saying that there is high-end Russian boxing gear (helmet or gloves)?

What are you concerns? What questions pop up in your head? Will you consider buying it?

I address my question mainly to practicing boxers, but any feedback is welcome.

    Yeah some concerns.

I would be interested if I saw something I liked, but I feel like the general market that would be interested in spending that much needs some incentives. What kind of high tech innovations are there. Gonna have to see some pictures and some reviews/specifics

    This guy for example

You can get virtually any color combination, padding combination, cuff, etc... for $150 shipped in a month.

Biolink, thanks a lot for sharing your concerns!

Of course, there are detailed photos of each item and information about every feature. I don't post it here because it will look like an unauthorised advertisement and most probably I'll get a ban instead of feedback.

What we really miss are independent reviews on popular and authoritative boxing sites. Will work on it.

ps. some of cool features are: padding material that was designed especially for boxing (almost all other brands use general-purpose materials), additional reinforcement of high-impact areas, great support and protection, etc. I'm an amateur boxer myself and was really impressed with this gear. Also, there is great feel of punch, but I have no idea how to prove it over internet.

That sounds very interesting that you mention the materials were made specifically for boxing. Would love to see pictures of the gloves.

Well being Russian my first concern is that it's Made In Russia. Not that there's anything necessarily wrong with Russian made products, it's just you never really think "Oh it must be good, it was made in Russia" unless it's military equipment.

Plus there's no reason I would spend $150 on a pair of gloves from some unknown company when I can just as easily get a pair of Winnings that everyone's familiar with. Your first hurdle is going to be getting some big names talking about it, which I think will be very hard because even now there are companies that have been around for a while without getting the attention they deserve. Good luck.

              2ofEverything,

              Thanks for your opinion!

Apparently you are right, very few people remember that russians export quality fighting gear since 907 AD.

Don't want to say anything bad about Winning, they make great equipment indeed. But their's gear of comparable quality is much more expensive. Probably because of high labour costs in Japan.

              Thanks for good wishes!

Getting some name fighters to use the products would go a long way to legitimizing the brand. There are a lot of Russian boxers out there now, approaching some of them and offering free gear as long as they wear it for their matches wouldn't be a bad idea.

                  You're right.

Actually, Dmitry "Night Wolf" Chudinov uses equipment I'm talking about.
