  • Back boxing after destroying my body.

Started boxing when i was about 11 trained solidly for 4 years and was pretty good for my age. Talented even.

Anyways when i turned 16 i completely changed my life. I gave up boxing , started smoking cigs/weed, drinking and partying as much as possible. I havent done any cardio or exercise bar some weightlifting since and am currently still smoking.

Recently ive found myself thinking about boxing a lot and have to decided to to go into town buy some gloves and hit the heavy bag at my gym later.

I would love to compete but realistically how much have i set myself back here?

Just wanna say got some serious nostalgia logging on here seeing some of the posts. Ive got two videos of me fighting which got a nice bit of attention on this i can link it if theres an interest.

The human body can certainly repair itself, especially at your age. Clean up your diet, stop smoking and get in there. You're plenty young, you can do whatever you want in life.

Just back from the gym,, was actually impressed with my cardio but my power/speed is nowhere near were it was :/ Funny to think that 15yo me could beat the **** out of 18yo me!

Do you think it will take long to regain power and speed?

              Patrick you'll be fine man
I did pretty much the same, except it was 17-23 for me, I went up 2-3 stone, smoked everyday and drank too
It took me a year to get back in shape on a strict diet and lots of cardio
Ur boxing skill will come back with practice n more practice
Never too late if it makes u happy

first, you'll be fine. as others responded, you will "recover" (from what?? little to no damage ).
secondly, IF for some reason, you dont "recover", what then? Keep boxing.
CHEERS MATE!! if you happen to be on the west coast in canada, lets box!
nvm ur in ireland. go andy lee!

                  You ain't done yet

I'm 26 and recently started back after 4 years of drinking and smoking and acting like a damn fool

1st time back - you might throw up, you'll feel like death
but then each time you go after that you'll find you have a tiny bit extra in the well to keep going. Booyah

HaHa ya i got that sick feeling on the first day alright.

Today is day 3 heading of now in half an hour.

First l jog on the threadmill, adding 1 minute everyday, and finish with a 30 second sprint. Then i do 2 minute rounds on the heavy bag at medium pace adding a round everyday. Should i do more exercises like skipping etc after the work? I admit i feel like death after the heavy bag!

Should i add in some squats, dips and planks aswell or is it too early?

What about going to the gym twice in one day i actually felt like going back yesterday
