  • Why is the loaded straight left such a rarely used punch?

Is it because the left hook just works so damn well?

I would have thought a powerful straight punch would have been a highly important part of the sweet science but its not very popular when compared with say a left hook.

A straight left is a straight punch thrown after a straight right, normally you throw a straight right then a left hook, but instead of a left hook you can also throw a straight left with your hips loaded by the straight right.

Just want to know why its a rare punch and not a common one is all.

Habit brought about by repetative conditioning, the loaded straight left is a bit slower than a left jab where the premium is speed. For heavy left jab look no further than Michael Watson it was the key punch used to dismantle Nigel Benn. It is just not practiced enough.
