  • Which gloves to use?

Hello there! I had a few questions and hoped you guys could answer them.
I'm wondering, which type of glove(s) should I use for practice?
I've got two types of gloves right now, one are boxing gloves I'm guessing (12-oz) and the other are cut-away style, padded gloves.

    Here are some pics: imgur.com/a/yWZ2c

What are each of these for exactly and which can I use for practice?

Note: I just do some casual boxing from time to time--just put up a light bag on a tree and punch it--I don't do competitions or hope to go pro or anything.

    Thank you.

I use 12oz for the bag but some prefer 14oz. But I'm like 126lbs so I can afford to use 12oz. If you are over 147 then 16oz may be better

I'm around 130lbs. So I guess they'll be fine. Thanks!

Ok, so you can use those (the red ones) for practice. The guys at the store were saying something else--they said to use the black, cut away ones for practice not the red ones. But I've seen people use those ones for practice as well... I don't think they really knew what they were taking about.

Get some 14oz you can use them for sparrin or for bagwork or mitts.

If you want a brand get soem title ones or everlast for a low price or some winning or ringside for higher price

Yeah I have a 12oz pair of ringsides and they are great. Good padding and wrist comfort

The standard rule of thumb at the boxing gyms I've been in, is 16oz gloves for sparring. Based on your preference you can use any size glove for the heavy bag, but for me, I like using 12 oz gloves. The 12 ouncers give you enough protection but are not overly bulky so you practice accuracy and speed

Oh, forgot to ask one question... what are the black gloves supposed to be used for?
