  • Boxing your friends?

If you and your friends want to box, you may spar - I've heard about this plenty.

But is it a good idea to full-out box with your friends?

I'm not a boxer but want to start, and know a few friends will be up for it too.

But I'm thinking that getting into full boxing fights with your friends (smashing your closest people in the face) must cause bad blood, or problems down the road.

Is this a fact or just a load of crap?

Does it really matter if you and a friend want to fully box each other, round for round?

If you're both fighters than it will mean nothing. humility is a trait that is learned fast in this sport.

Real talk - don't box anybody with out a fitted mouth piece, if you are smart you will follow that safety issue atleast.

Thanks a lot for the great reply, the humility part makes sense. And I will heed your advice about the mouthpieces.

Of course I wouldn't like to beat my friends into bloody pulps - that's the thing, injuring your friends on purpose like that just seems to me like it would cause bad blood or something. I guess that's just my total lack of experience.

Either way, boxing is gonna be fun.

          Is more enjoyable with friends

You're naturally not gonna want to take each other's head off

in high school my friends set up a "fight club." i got whooped in my first match up, first time boxing ever.. We actually had friends who were MMA guys match people up. we did 3 two minute rounds. i won the next one i got. 1-1.

i didnt do it again until i was sitting in english class when i got a text from my friend from another school said someone called me out to fight. i guess he thought i was easy pickins.... so i boxed that dude and we both ended up bleeding (i busted his mouth, he busted my nose) but i came out victorious taking the first two rounds. i remember the third round starting and i got nailed hard with a right hand that shook me up (this shot made my nose start pouring) so i ended up jabbing and fighting him off when i had to to.

after all that i actually went to a boxing gym consistently later in the year when school ended.

If both of you have a healthy competitive mindset and train properly, you can box each other and still be cool afterward. Many friends spar and even compete against each other in organized fights. However, if there's even a small chance of grudges or emotional fallout, it’s better to stick to sparring and leave the full-force fights for an actual ring with a referee.
