  • Help Limiting Weight loss!!!

This is sort of damage control at this point, I had a serious jaw surgery last Monday due to an old injury. I had it wired shut while it healed and was on a clear liquid diet just been cleared to eat foods that require no chewing, I am 6 ft 2 and weighed 200lbs to maintain my weight I need just over 3000 calories per day. I was told it would be impossible to maintain my weight in the next few weeks because I am not allowed to exercise at all and liquids digest quicker, don't have anywhere near the calories. Also sugary drinks are out of the question due to having to use medicated mouthwash instead of brushing while I am in pain and the jaw is healing.

What has happened in the past 2 weeks is weight loss quicker than I've ever experienced outside of illness, I lost 6 and a half kgs or 14.3 lbs in a week I haven't weighed myself since because frankly I don't want too. I have always been fit, healthy in shape and quit smoking a while ago.

Has anyone ever experienced this due to illness or other circumstances, advice on how to limit this given the circumstances?

Also if anyone is on an extreme cut this has shifted basically all my visible body fat (and seemingly quite a bit of muscle) haha.

One thing I will say is that your body will gain it back. I had a bad case of the glue and ate next to nothing for a week (although that's not as bad as you) and lost 10lbs. Some of the weight to be fair was fat but i quickly gained some of it back within a month. Try and stay hydrated and take vitamins to ride you over as you move on to solids. That way your body won't be too weak when you get back to normal

Have you tried protein shakes with milk? the high protein might help reduce muscle loss and the milk will at least slow the digestion somewhat

I have the same problem, started working out a lot lately and losing weight like crazy. Started to get me a bit worried so I dialed down on the frequency of my exercises a bit until I can some weight and it stabilizes

You just need to eat more. You shouldn't be dialing back your workouts to control weight.

Never had a problem bulking really. Frame supports it and my metabolism was slowed once I hit 20 (23 now). I am just unable to eat solid foods due to surgery for a while, its killing me.
