HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training. I tried it for a while and got up to around 9 minutes, but I was running on the road as it was the only thing available and it started to kill my shins and knees so I had to stop. Can't say whether I really got "ripped" from it or not though. Short hard bursts followed by jogging in 30 second intervals are where it is at. Think of the body of a sprinter vs the body of a long distance runner.
I used to do those for cross country all the time, I was pretty cut but wasn't as big as I am now. I'd consider doing those but I don't want to lose my muscle mass. Thanks for the reply.
I did those for like 25 minute sessions. Pretty good stuff. Plus I try and run on grass.
HIIT is much better for preventing muscles loss than is long distance running. As long as you're eating healthy and have decent post-workout nutrition it shouldn't be a problem
Im pretty sure that for men we put fat on our stomachs first and then the back. When we lose fat it comes off the back first (not very noticable) and then the stomach. (This came from a bodybreak commercial)
This is why so many guys have a hard time losing the gut.
