  • First Boxing Match (with video)

    Hi everyone!

Ha! I liked it. You got in there and did it, my hats off to you. You're obviously older than your opponent.

You kept your guard high and kept the pressure on, good job.

      2 critiques here.
      1. When your blocking his flurries with the high guard cut him off in the middle, or in between his punches. Meaning, as soon as his left glove touches your glove, quickly fire a hook/right hand right back in his face. His face will be there just waiting for you to punch it. Same thing with the right hand. He touches your gloves with a right and you fire the right hand immediately back at him with the hook coming in right behind it. Learn to roll with the shots, and to fire back, with your high guard and you might have stopped that kid

      2. Your right hands are very weak, you're not turning them over/finishing the shot.

Loved it man, mark one up for the older guys.....

Congrates good job and a nice win.
Find someone to teach you to to shuffle forward. Meaning to step up with your left foot (lead) and drag your back foot (right) but doing quickly!!!
Your stepping forward but your very slow doing it. When you learn to shuffle it would have pressured that opponent without even throwing shots. Pressure is applied in many ways and you have determination which is a plus!
Your hands are to high but I see guys doing it because of the absence of head gear!
Listen to Rockin' comment their valid! Your right hand is to wide and is an arm punch, no power! Throw it straight from your chin and turn your fist (pronate) and finish with the elbow out. Come back with a hook! Rockin' is saying to punch "with " that guy because you were catching his shots on your gloves.
Good fight loose some of your gut and get those feet out of the mud!
        Ray.

With his 'slow shuffle' he might try mixing in sneaking his back foot up a bit before stepping forward with his left foot. Guys at that level will rarely notice the feet. Gain the ground needed without actually moving before throwing the initial shot.....

Cheers for the kind comments lads! I apreciate your comments!

Yes there is alot i need to work on, i was told to keep my guard high and come forward as he doesnt like pressure, he liked to be at range and he swings and holds his chin in the air which he did, my right hands could of been alot more powerful, i am normally alot more stronger than thag but when i did catch him with a good shot he leaned on me which took quite alot out of me. Also he has had alot more fights as this was my first. I dont think i did too bad. Ive got another one on the 7th of september as i say ive got some stuff i can work on and ive now got 2 months to get in more better shape!!
