  • What do you guys think about training to this type of music?

    It motivates me. I love the crescendos in the music - those work particularly well for interval training.

    If they work for you that's ok by me.
    I think their to slow and and are void of motivation.
    I prefer music that extenuates the "one" of the beat meaning the emphasis is implied right away.
    ex;
    James Brown music has the emphasis on the first beat "the one"!
    Afro.Cuban music is similar with a strong influence on the first beat. It feels as if the song has a fast beat because the first beat is accentuated. It works well for rope work, shadow boxing, bag work most everything on your feet.
    Some of my favorites are;
    Any James Brown cd's
    Joe Cuba
    Mongo Santamarie
    Tower of Power

    Working with music that accentuates the "one" (of the count) is working on top of the rhythm that is very similar to being first with punches, movements and thought!
    A lot of boxing methods concur with being first!

      Great post. Yea, the music you listed has more rhythm and therefore are good for certain types of boxing training.

                  Usually I download a song from iTunes but you have to also download a program to convert it into an MP3.

                  There is also a website called beemp3.com in which you can download mp3's and not have to worry about converting it.
