Nobody's going to challenge you. I never trained there but would show up to move with Argenis Mendez and Joan Guzman when they were still around. The gym has a few fighters but it's mostly white collar guys who train to stay in shape and they charge ridiculous prices because they know that they're "gleasons". The good guys who head there just head there for press usually but not really to work good. Not saying there aren't ok people there but it's more white collar than anything now and it's been like that for a looong time. Lots of trainers are shady there as well. But to the casual person who hasn't been in that environment they'll think it's the greatest place on earth.

Iconic place that has a serious amount of history with it! I worked a few fighters at Gleasons in the late 60s and again in the late 70s. Never had a problem with anyone and also got good spar and always gave good spar.
I remember putting some time into Espada's fighters and Juan LaPorta there and meeting Johnny Davenport there with Harold Knight and James Green to work with a few of my boys.

I'm sure its not the same but what is!! Ray.

Yes I know, I think it moved in the mid eighties? So I haven't been to the newer building! I know Blackmore has been there for years and he is a very good trainer from what friends have told me. When I brought guys in for sparring we either got good spar sessions or gym fights. Either way it was all good, nothing like a gym fight about 3 weeks out from a bout. Your just winding into shape and your tired of your "home cooking" sometimes certain guys need to open up and if you don't have the right combinations os spar partners at home you have to find it!

I trained there in 2011...as soon as I walked in, there was a dude yelling at me like "yeah come on bring it" hahahaha, he was a trainer, and just popping off his mouth, I knew I was in Brooklyn.

It was expensive tho, can't remember...$50 for a week I think, the young pros were all nice, conversed with them in the locker room and everyone went to work, I chose a trainer, there were a few trying to get me to train with them but I went with Hector Roca, he was ok but was tired most of the time and I ended up doing pad work with some dude called "Panama", he used to push me in training, you know those trainers that just come up to your chest pushing you, not really holding the pads up but just in your face....I was frustrated with him a lot.

It was ok, nothing great for me...they seem to have some cages there now from a picture I saw recently but when I was there they had like 4 or 5 big rings, hardly any weights, just some old rusted ones.

Lots of people training tho, girls/guys....I have friends that are based out of the gym, which was why I went to train there.

              These guys.

Blackmore peed in the hallway or some shyt at brooklyn gym and was kicked out but I think I've seen him there after the fact so I take it with a grain of salt. From what I know he was working out of a gym in queens. But yeah same guys on home field don't get the same "serious" treatment as those from other gyms. Let alone towns. Cheers Ray!

I went there once and it reminded me of almost every other gym in manhattan area (even though its not in manhattan) mostly yuppies getting a workout, and a bunch of a grime ball freelance trainers immediately trying to get you to workout with them as soon as you walk in.
