    Paleo diet

    Has anyone had success using the Paleo diet? For those who might not know, this diet emphasizes cutting grains and dairy out completely. So, you would only eat meats, fruits and vegetables. It also emphasizes using locally grown fruits/vegetables so as to avoid pesticides and to only eat meat that avoids grain-fed cattle. Basically it is like eating as though you are a paleolithic human.

    Was just wondering if anyone had success (or failures) with this diet plan?

    It is recommended if you have trouble getting rid of that last bit of body fat usually around the lower ab area and if you are a meat eater.

    Expect low energy levels to begin with . Your body will be in shock mode.

      Works well for me. I didn't notice any major drop in energy and generally feel lighter when training. If you're strict with it you will shed fat and pretty quickly.

        It's your body so pay attention to it and see how you feel.
        But just remember, there was no "standard" paleolithic diet. People living on the coasts fished, people inland hunted bushmeat and those with access to berries/roots etc probably ate those. The whole concept that grains have led to the downfall of mankind and that the human body hasn't evolved since those times is utterly preposterous.

          Never tried Paleo diet but tried weight loss diet formulated by physicians and lost extra weight with weight loss diet and regular exercises. It is not only effective but safe way to lose and maintain body weight.

            The paleo diet is largely misunderstood and lately has become a weight loss fad. The point of the paleo diet is to not eat anything that is complex for your body to breakdown such as grains, all the random chemicals in most preservatives and sugar in most forms (excluding honey). It was originally developed to help people ailing from certain stomach disorders by over-time (time being the key word) changing the bacterial composition inside your stomach. Therefore it is not really meant to be something you "try" and follow you either do or you don't. That being said it is an extremely healthy way to eat although not necessarily designed in order for weight loss. With that in mind most people who stop eating a carb heavy diet will lose some weight.

            What the paleo diet is NOT is an excuse to eat **** tons of meat with a couple vegetables and then wonder why it's not working. On this diet most of your calories come from vegetables, nuts, and fruits along with small amounts of lean protein. It is very difficult to maintain but if done correctly can be awesome for an athlete looking to maintain weight and feel generally better.

              I guess this more or less describes my diet of the last 5 years or so. I also eat quite a bit of fish and 3 eggs a day. I am fairly lean and muscular with good strength for someone who would be 1/2 my age.

                  It depends what your trying to do it for.

                  For body body builders it can be beneficial, especially for females, for athletes, no.
