Hello,
I am new to this forum - first thread, first post - and I had a question for some of the experienced boxers here.
I have been boxing since 2010, LA Boxing (nowadays, UFC gym)....if that counts. For a small guy, I have always had the power and speed but I never thought of fighting. I am there to get a workout and learn self-defense.
In 2013, after being told that I work the bag like a pro, I started sparring (on and off) and while I was sparring with pros that would give me a beating, I was content knowing that I could hang in there with them. Of course, they would be taking it easy by only going 60-70%.
However, in the past 4 months, I have lost all my speed and power. I cannot punch the bag for crap. It is bothering me a lot. Sparring has stopped; well it stopped a long time ago but I cannot even work the bag like I could.
Some tell me that I have burned myself out and that I should stick to running (other cardio workouts) and take a break from boxing.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
