    similiar to canelo question

Anyone know any fighters past or present that are a good replica of canelo alvarez? Just curious to what others have to say. I've heard someone say cotto which I cant fully disagree but then again I cant full agree just because of how much more punishment cotto takes. I feel like Canelo has a lot better defense than cotto.

    Anyone have anybody in mind???

I think the Cotto comparison is a good one, if you are taking this version of Cotto into account. The early days of Cotto, he was more of a come forward fighter, Canelo has never been that.

Canelo is a natural counter puncher, moves well and looks to set up combinations. He remeinds me of El Radar, Wilfredo Benitez. He doesn't have the level of defense and accuracy yet that Benitez does, but if you watch them closely, they move similar. Throw combinations after defense, and look to set up the big shot.

Wilfredo Benitez is a legend, I'm not saying Canelo is ever going to be that but there's similarities in their movements IMO.

I dont see the Cotto that much but Canelo's defense, head movement, and footwork is not like the typical mexican fighter he slips and moves very well

I don't think Canelo's style is anything out of the ordinary but I have always felt he fights more like a European fighter than a Mexican fighter. Big generalizations I know, but it's my poor assessment on his style.
