Is this a good or bad idea? (The pivot step forwards)

To combine stepping forward with a pivot all in one motion?

So you step forwards towards your opponent with say a left hook, but instead of pushing directly forward with the rear foot, you also push to the side a bit as well, which results in you stepping forward and pivoting at the same time.

So this way you don't directly step into their on coming punches and you have a safe new angle form which you can attack them when you "land".

      Im not sure.

Im a southpaw facing orthodox fighters.

Maybe it will walk me onto an incoming punch im not sure I need an experienced person. I thought a pivot got your head and body out the way but im not sure if it does or not. If it does get your head out the way it only just gets it out the way, it defo gets your body out the way.

I think the direction of your front foot will still be whats creating the angle.
