    handball

In competitive handball you develop use of both arms. Lots of sprinting. Development of strategy (playing steps ahead). Develops sharp minds because of constantly changing offense and defense. Lots of footwork. Total body coordination because of the consequences of the shot you just placed which may return in a way you didn't expect so you have to be completely ready. I would say competitive handball is great even B players are great let alone elite A class

I cant neccessarily disagree with what your saying, except when you say football is a totally different type of mental toughness.

There are not very many sports in which you go out and try to knock the **** out of each other. Football and boxing are two of them.

Football players have a mentality where they like to hit each other hard. I played one year of football and I had to make myself finish the season. All I remember is hit drills, running and more hit drills.

When you get into college it gets even tougher and the hitting gets even harder. Division 1 football even tougher and harder.

Football requires a level of mental toughness not required by most sports.

Im not saying football will give someone what it takes to be a fighter (no sport can do that), im just saying if any sport can help prepare someone its a sport like football or even rugby.

You get hit and you get hit hard in these sports. You take physical beatings in these sports. Not many sports can mimic this.

Once again I dont really disagree with anything anyone said, I just want you guys to know the angle I was coming from

Basketball and soccer both are supposed to be great for footwork, coordination, and stamina

Swimming is supposed to be good for building power and is just a great conditioning tool in general since its lowstress on the joints. Its prescribed a lot in rehab as a result.

Wrestling is good for the reasons Rockin' states

I think fencing resembles boxing the most. Fakes, inside and outside movement, parrying, defending, striking. Boxing can be easier if you have a good footwork and balance and I think fencers do.
