Hey good luck, just do what the trainer tells you and you should be fine. Dont spar yet. If you do your a fool cause your not gonna learn anything. Itll take you a few weeks or more to learn the basics punches, movements, and how to shift your weight for power. Id say try and do this warm up, dont even bother with shadowboxing yet your just gonna get into bad habbits, unless the trainer is watching you. If the trainer you have their has pads do them they are the best, just work on your jab on the pads, hopefull the trainer wont make you throw anything but jabs and work on stepping correctly, also dont bother with the heavy bag just yet it will also give you bad habbits at this stage. I suggest stretch, pads if able to,and then if they have a speed bag, hopefully they do, ask someone to show you how to start using it corectly, after 3 that you will probably be a little tired since its your first day and all, try and jumprope, and do some core strength excercizes,if your not tired yet. You will be fine. But again dont spar your not gonna learn anything yet just bad habbits. -

today was my first day, last thursday i just went tot alk to them. Anyways it was pretty good hit the pads for a little bit, then he watched me hit the heavy bag. I also worked with a pro fighter he really just did defence and hit me with some shots i was being ****** in. The trainer said I was catching on quicker than most and i have heavy hands. There is a showcase on saturday he said if i wanted i could have a spot but the other guy would have to be 0-0 also, I said i need more training first. I am 192 right now i wanna get to 178.Comment

These frigging "trainers"....
You've got to be your own best counsel, because they like to let a person get just enough training to think they know something, and then throw you to the lions. They will put you in over your head to build up the confidence of the guy they are really interested in...and, as often as not, they are only training this guy to send out as cannon fodder for some up-and-comer. Be especially careful if he wants to put you in with a certain JC Jr.Comment

Its a little insane that you have only went a day and your trainer would want you to fight already. Way too quick if you ask me. Even if a guy is 0-0 I guarantee you he's been training for a few months. I have been in the gym for 2 months and have not even came close to getting a real fight. Just sparring and things like that. If i were you I would rethink your gym situation. It sounds to me like your trainer is rushing you. When I first went into the gym my trainer told me outright it will be 3 months at least before i get a fight and a month till i spar. I sparred in 2 weeks though. But anyway just make sure your situation is benefitting to you and keeping you safe. Good luck.Comment

It should take months before a first fight, not days!Comment
