  • I think I'm Getting worse.

    Here's me in tech school:

Here is me at my First Duty station a year later:

I'm watching myself and I've gotten slower ;like ten times slower. I have lighter gloves in the first one, but it's a 2 oz difference. It really only looks like my technique cleaned up as far as my extension of punches and sticking my punches. Is it my training itself? I've noticed that I may not be using the heavy bag correctly, I try to visualize an opponent because I have a horrible mindset when I spar. You can call it stage fright or whatever, but between my habit of blinking and not being able to translate my skills onto an opponent I found it best to visualize the bag as an opponent. Watching other people though they seem more consistent, almost as if I don't have the ability to punch from many positions which I've also tried doing in the second one, but to no avail I don't think i'm getting it.

You are slower. Your first vid your 1 2 is fast and crisp though.

Yeah in the first vid seemed like you were more in shape, putting combos together faster. Where are you stationed at man?

Ah man sorry to hear that. This forshaping stuff is no joke, more then half the people in my AFSC at this base are on that list that just came out. They're trying to get rid of everybody

It happens, you can get it back.

Your energy level is completely different.

can you visually tell i gained weight? I was actually actively going to a boxing gym at the time of the second video. The first one I was training on my own.

seriously being 21 and being financially stable and being praised for your job does a lot, but once you get kicked out it ****s you up mentally so bad. I weight even more than i did in the second video. I drank and smoked way more than i should I put away my gloves and quit the gym i was at and 4 months without a job because I didn't want to leave my house. I felt lowly of myself, but it sounds real cheesy but I met a girl, and something about her accepting me the way I am now showed me aint nothing change but the suit i put on daily.

It motivated me to not put myself down so much, so now i'm anxious to go to school and I'm actively looking for a job. I drove back upstate to grab my gloves one more time and put them to use, and stick with it until I gotta put them down again. I'm so high off the contrast of my mood, I've been hype to start boxing and get in shape.

I myself put in 12 rounds on the heavybag about 4 times a week, and I know how I feel and what I can do when Im in better shape than not.

When Im just starting back up, or haven't been consistent, Im more like you in your second video... Punches arent in bunches, I dont have bounce in my step, Im more stationary, just going through the motions.

When Im in better shape, Im full of energy, throwing punches doesnt effect me stamina wise, Im moving all over the place etc etc..
My main question: Was I active enough in the first video or should I still be doing more?

You had a lot of foot shuffle going on in the middle of throwing punches. You werent set on a lot of your punches, so not a lot of power. But with that said... you were working pretty good.

I was told you step with every punch no matter what even during combinations?

or should it only be for the more important shots in combinations like a heavy right or left hook?

so just sink my punches deeper in the bag is what you're saying?
