    Fitness Questions

I'm 5'6 and a half 17 year old male with a 67 inch reach. i have a medium to small body frame with a wrist size of 6.5 in. and elbow breadth of 2.75 in. Now write now Im not in great shape but im also not out of shape and im walking around at 130 lbs with 11-12 percent body fat. i want to get down to 6 but it just seems impossible. when i used to lift weights my body fat was much lower and it felt like it was easier to maintain. But lifting weights reduces my snap and i dont like the way it feels. what do i do to get down to 6?

I wouldnt recommend walking around at such a low level of bodyfat, i feel weaker and punches hurt more but if its not for fighting guess it dosent matter much.

Really you think 6 is too low? also i have one other question lets say i cut my body fat to 6 or 7 percent to put me at about 123 lbs. then i cut 4 lbs of water to make 119. Is that a better idea than lifting up to 138 and cutting to make 132. I'm about 5'7 with small bones but feel like i should be a little bigger than 130. what do you suggest?

6 I way too low to be walking around at if you're not training hardcore, especially at your weight. You don't have much of anything "support" wise to keep your body solid. Ideally you don't want to go under 7 unless you're actually "cutting" which is a synonym for draining your body to be lean for a weigh in or a competition. It hasn't been clear if you're fighting or not though. If you are I don't think cutting to 119 is too bad if it doesn't weaken you drastically. You have to be careful your body has the resistance to punches to not cause damage especially to your brain. If you're just doing this for fitness you should be much heavier than 132 at 5'7".

Its for fighting id just like to look good at the same time that im fighting. So what Ill be weaker at 6 ? I have small wrists and small bones i feel like 138 140 is where my body and muscles would look perfect but i just don't know how to get up there. I mean i know I can lift up to that weight with weights and then just keep boxing so my speed adjusts. I mean I'd basically lift up there so my weight is ideal with my height and then cut water to make 132 for a fight. I mean i guess you know? Sorry if im unclear

Okay it's more clear. If it's for fighting I'd say cutting to 132 works well. At 119 I might be fantastic but you'd have to see how your body can resist punches. 6% natural bodyfat isn't going to leave a lot of room for absorbing damage to the body. If it can manage it though, you'd do well to fight at that weight if you can make it easily.

Yeah like grimgash said your body is more likely to take damage at souch a low level of bodyfat. I have been around 5-6 % as lowest by cutting down on calories over a period of two months with a more drastic calorie reduction in the last week. I reached the weight but i felt weaker so i probably wont go that low again. Also even if you do fight at such a low weight no need to walk around at it all the time.

Alright That makes things much clearer also I have one last question. How does adrien broner fight at 130 and 135 for so long and then last night his unofficial weigh in was 156. I mean did he really cut 9 lbs of water weight ? how was he able to blow up to 156 so fast? i dont get how he puts on so much functional muscle mass
