  • Grip Training: Increasing your punching power

    Hello All,

My name is Derrick "Bionic Man" Clark. A up&coming inspirational speaker/performing strongman& self defense practitioner from Columbus,
    Ohio.

I been in training in physical fitness for over 25 years! As a youth! I did box and took up karate.I stop boxing cause I couldn't compete cause being blind in one eye!

As far as grip training goes... a lot of boxer don't train grip!Probably cause boxer hands and wrists be wrap up! When you clench your fist, the wrist and upper forearm tense up!By strengthening the hands and wrist will help generate extra punching power.

I do know punching power come from the whole body! Trust and believe! If you start adding grip training in your work out! In time...you will see a difference in your punching power.

i think it's more correct to say:
a stronger grip strength allows a more efficient energy transfer...
when you have a tight fist, less energy is absorbed by your own arm.

and not "By strengthening the hands and wrist will help generate extra punching power.", cause you don't generate extra punching power, you just "lose less energy transferred"??

Grip strength alone doesn't determine punching power. Workouts that involve grip training consecutively target the forearm muscles and tendons which in turn increases punching power.
