There used to be a young woman at my old gym who trained under the current trainer there now. She fought from 119 through 132 amatuer classes. If you weren't ready to box and punch you would get your azz kicked and this girl had pop and all the moves. She was a top ranked "all service" (Military) boxing champ and other than a seasoned pro at her weight could handle anyone! A novice would learn so much from her she would be invaluable to anyone to spar with!!
You can learn from anyone you spar with regardless of their experience!!
You just need to use your mind to think of ways to utilize them. Ray.
I remember the first time they made me spar a girl, I was supposed to use a lot of movement, bob and weave and just jab. Well as soon as I landed the first jab her nose started bleeding.
She had a shocked look on her face and she didn't want to continue once that first round was up. I have her a hug and have her words of encouragement, we became really close friends after but I felt like an asshole for making her nose bleed. We laugh about it now.

I completely feel you Ray, but in this case its more about me not wanting to potentially hurt a girl than it is about what I could learn haha
If I had to choose between sparring with someone like Laila Ali and sparring with Tyson in his prime, I'd choose the latter lol
I used to sometimes do rounds with this chick who was about my weightclass (i was only a kid fighting at like 110) she was fast with pretty sound technique, definitely capable of beating up some guys, but i could never do more than jab at her and pulled power of all my punches, a girl doesnt have the physical build to take punishment like a man does, its not even a remotely fair fight. So our spars would always just be light as and very fast, and this chick was very good so sometimes it was actually some decent rounds.
i sparred with a chic once cus my boy told me to help her get better, he said she was tough and she came at me all crazy so i ended up busting her up pretty bad after 3 5 minute rounds
When I was 16 my regular sparring partner was a woman she used to be a powerlifter and was about 15lbs heavier than me but I was faster even though she hit harder. She went on to win a regional golden gloves and went pro don't know how she did though.
I've sparred a girl before. But I told her that I wasn't being sexist......but that I wouldn't throw any punches back (just a personal rule). I was at least two and a half stone heavier for a start.
As it happens I worked on my defence and she got a much better workout, than she would have on a heavy bag or wall to ceiling ball.
I'd almost recommend it; she was very attractive......
But in all seriousness, there are girls out there with some serious competence who'd beat most guys without decent pedigree. Male/female sparring in those instances would require some good discretion from the trainers/coaches on hand. Newbie lads could find themselves sparked out and discouraged from coming back to the gym!
