    I see this very often from guys who start boxing and don't warm up properly and don't stretch after their workout. Like LHW Champ said, you have to strengthen and condition your entire body for boxing before you can do anything real training or sparring. I see coaches having their beginning students do really crazy strength and conditioning exercises then put them spar before they can throw a dicent punch and the students end up injuring something. My advise, see an orthopedist and get his recommendations but until you see the ortho, stay away from boxing. You might make your injury worse.

      partly, in the case of the hook definitely.

      both of mine pop out and forced me into
      using proper punching mechanics.

      after that alot started working out better,
      including my shoulders not popping out.

        So in case of a hook do you find it safer with thumb up or down?

        I'm asking since I have same issue...

          thumbs down on all punches except the uppercuts.

          and if your shoulders pop out avoid chasing with the hook, at all costs.

            right, no chasing with hooks!

            yes my jab hand shoulder does pop out.

            I guess it's an advantage being force to punch properly...except for long hooks which I really prefer with thumb up.

              I wanted your guys advice on my shoulders. I am pretty new to boxing and i have injured my left shoulder while sparring. I sublexated my shoulder (popped out and jolted back in). I could hardly use my shoulder so I rested it for 3 weeks and when it felt better I began to train again and then immediately sublexated my shoulder again while throwing a left hook. My right shoulder also feels weird and sore sometimes when I throw out some jabs, but mainly hooks. Am I throwing my punches improperly? I will go and see a doctor about this but was wondering what could be causing this? Thanks
              it seems you are throwing wild looping punches a quick remedy would be to stand in front of a mirror and practice throwing combinations remember to keep your punches short try jabbing stepping to your left throw an uppercut move to your right swing under and around and throw a uppercut step over to the left and throw a hook

                I could be you don't stretch or warm up it could also be that you have to much punching power for your shoulder. You should start working shoulders more.

                  I'm no doctor but get things like this checked out asap and look into physiotherapy. I had a bad back and went for 2 months and my back is phenomenal and I haven't had a problem since( this was years ago and I work a physically demanding job doing 50 hours a week and still no problems. I know 2 people who have had shoulder seperation problems and procrasinated on getting the proper treatment and they both have permanent damage and pain. Baby it all you can and don't be fighting if you damn well know it keeps popping out. I know it's a addiction but you'll shoot yourself in the foot in the end when you can't box let alone do anything with your shoulder.
